Reporting Tip #3
Sometimes all you can do is your best. Things will always fall down around you or fall short of what you were planning for, working for or hoping for. At the end of the day, as long as you do your very best and give it all you’ve got, as much as you can given the situation, then you need to rest in that.
This right here is the hardest part: Don’t let others’ failures, bad attitudes or unfair expectations challenge your self-esteem or morale. Don’t look to the right or to the left, just do your job to the utmost, admit mistakes, fix them and move on.
Example: I worked very hard on a story and scooped the other papers. I FOILed, I Googled, I snooped and I scooped. I did a good job but there were major issues with the art. I almost let that ruin the spoils of my victory because I was so frustrated with others, but all in all, I did the best job that I could, I did all that I could, and I fixed the problem.
Just be honest with yourself and others. It might make for a long, hard day, but you’ll know you did your best, and that’s worth something.
